for SDA-2400
FAQ
Setting it up
#01 Can the SDA-2400 be bridged in mono?
No, the SDA-2400 is designed as a pure stereo power amplifier. If more than 2 x 400W output power is required and your loudspeakers is suitable, you may consider bi-amping together with a TDAI amplifier.
#05 Can the SDA-2400 be powered-on by music or by trigger?
Yes, both is possible. The Power State switch on the back selects between energy-saving Low Power when a music signal controls power-on from standby / power-off into standby, or On if the amp should either stay permanently on or is controlled by a 12V trigger signal.
#06 Does the SDA-2400 need cooling?
No, the SDA-2400 is an extremely power-efficient, energy-saving, and cool-running Class-D amplifier, while the aluminum case and PCB design derives heat. When several SDA-2400 are stacked, or other heat-generating electronics are placed above or below, or the unit is placed inside a closed cabinet, enough space around the SDA-2400 must still be ensured.
Connecting
#02 Can I do bi-amping or bi-wiring with the SDA-2400?
The SDA-2400 has one stereo pair of speaker outputs, so the power amplifier itself is not designed for bi-amping or bi-wiring. But bi-amping and bi-wiring can be done together with a Lyngdorf TDAI amplifier by using its digital or analog pre-out, with the option of setting highpass and lowpass filters in the TDAI menu. You’ll find more information in the owner’s manuals.
#03 Analog or Digital - which input should I use? How to select the input?
The SDA-2400 is a Class-D power amplifier with both analog and digital inputs. The Input Select switch on the back selects between the two inputs – they cannot be used simultaneously. If your pre-amp has a digital output, the SDA-2400’s digital input should be used to keep a digital music signal in the digital domain as long as possible. A digital connection is also less affected by external interference.
#04 How can I use the SDA-2400 power amp with a TDAI amplifier?
All TDAI amplifiers have a pre-out to be connected to the SDA-2400. With the TDAI-3400 and TDAI-2170 the preferred connection is via the digital input to keep a digital music signal in the digital domain as long as possible. The SDA-2400 can either be used as the only power amp by disabling the TDAI amplifier’s own speaker outputs, or in a bi-amping configuration with the option of setting highpass and lowpass filters for each amplifier. In bi-amping configuration, the signal processing delay of an external SDA amplifier can be compensated in the TDAI menu. You’ll find further information in the owner’s manuals.
