for FR-2

FAQ

#01 What is the difference between FR-1 and FR-2?

FR stands for Full Range, meaning any FR speaker covers a broad frequency range down to the bass, and doesn’t require additional woofers or subwoofers. The FR-1 was introduced as the first Lyngdorf full-range speaker, designed for on-wall mounting. The FR-2 is the second Lyngdorf full-range speaker, designed for floor standing (or on-wall mounting close to the floor). The FR-2 has a more powerful tweeter and also two more powerful woofers which are both driven by the amplifier. The FR-2 provides higher efficiency, higher SPL, and an overall much more powerful performance.

#02 Does the FR-2 have to be places against the wall?

Yes. The FR-2 is acoustically made for placement closest to the wall boundary, taking advantage of the room acoustics instead of working against them. The bass response of the speaker is tuned so that it uses the wall to its benefit, providing a powerful bass with an ideal impulse response. Furthermore, the down-firing bass reflex port is tuned with a certain proximity to the floor and wall. The FR-2 may be used with more distance to the wall, but with limitations in the bass response and in the overall sound balance. When placed with a distance to the wall, the two stabilizer feet must be used to prevent the FR-2 from tilting forwards or backwards.

#03 Does the FR-2's wall placement require RoomPerfect?

No. The FR-2 is acoustically made for wall placement, regardless of RoomPerfect™. However, RoomPerfect™ will greatly improve the bass performance of the FR-2, or any speaker placed close to the wall. The speaker will acoustically couple even better to the room, and the overall amplifier-speaker-room efficiency will increase, especially in the low frequencies. It is highly recommended to utilize the benefits of the FR-2 and RoomPerfect™ together.

#04 How can the shallow cabinet stand safely in the room?

The shallow shape is part of the acoustic design and purpose of the FR-2. When placed as recommended, as close as possible to the speaker’s wall, the provided wall-fixing strap should be used to hold the speaker safely in its position and to prevent tilting forwards. When the strap cannot be fixed to the wall (for example when the nearest boundary is a window, or attaching a strap to the wall is not practical), the provided two stabilizer feet must be attached to the speaker’s base to prevent the FR-2 from tilting forwards or backwards.

#05 Can the FR-2 be placed on the floor without using the spike feet or stabilizer feet?

No. The provided feet ensure the space between the loudspeaker and the floor required for the down-firing bass reflex port. The distance is part of the port tuning and the speaker’s bass performance. Other speaker stand accessories might be used as long as sufficient space between speaker and floor is guaranteed.
