Lyngdorf FR-2 review

The Lyngdorf FR-2 loudspeaker has been reviewed by Essential Install, with trade-focused reviewer Richard Stevenson putting the slim, near-wall loudspeaker through its paces in a real-world living space.

In the review, Stevenson highlights one of the biggest challenges in AV system design: balancing performance, aesthetics, and room layout. The FR-2 is praised as a compelling solution for rooms where traditional floorstanders are visually intrusive and in-wall speakers are impractical — yet where clients still expect a truly engaging, audiophile-level sound.

Designed from the outset to perform close to a wall, the FR-2 delivers a full-bodied, dynamic sound without the usual compromises associated with boundary placement. Its slim cabinet and Scandinavian-inspired design allow it to visually disappear into the room, while still offering impressive bass control, detail, and sound staging.

Paired with the Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 and RoomPerfect™, the FR-2 is described as “bonkers–punchy” in the low frequencies, with an open and uncongested presentation that rivals conventional floorstanders at similar price points. Even with RoomPerfect switched off, the speaker’s voicing is praised for standing confidently on its own — with room correction simply polishing the final result.

Essential Install concludes that the FR-2 is one of the most easily deployable loudspeakers the reviewer has encountered, offering a rare sweet spot of performance, practicality, and design freedom — ideal for modern living spaces where great sound should enhance the room, not dominate it.
